Protecting the rights of parents, students and workers after an Indiana DUI charge.

Indianapolis DUI / DWI defense lawyer Eric L. Mayer is an experienced advocate for Indiana residents facing serious penalties related to a drunk driving arrest. With more than 27 years before the courts, we understand how Indiana DUI / DWI / OWI laws work and can thoroughly investigate your case to ensure that your rights are protected and that prosecution proves their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Hardship License after Suspension / Revocation

If you fail a Breathalyzer Test administered by law enforcement, your driver’s license will be immediately suspended pending an administrative hearing. After thirty days, you may apply for what is called a “Hardship License” that will allow you to travel in the course of your employment or from work, school, daycare and other necessary activities.

The “Hardship License” issued after a license suspension or revocation is valid for 180 days (six months) and is available to anyone facing criminal DUI / DWI and alcohol-related charges for the first time, as well as to what Indiana terms a “Habitual Traffic Violator” as follows:

  • 5 Year Habitual Traffic Violator: Immediate eligibility for hardship license
  • 10 Year Habitual Traffic Offender: Eligibility after 5 years
