Hardship License after Suspension / Revocation
If you fail a Breathalyzer Test administered by law enforcement, your driver’s license will be immediately suspended pending an administrative hearing. After thirty days, you may apply for what is called a “Hardship License” that will allow you to travel in the course of your employment or from work, school, daycare and other necessary activities.
The “Hardship License” issued after a license suspension or revocation is valid for 180 days (six months) and is available to anyone facing criminal DUI / DWI and alcohol-related charges for the first time, as well as to what Indiana terms a “Habitual Traffic Violator” as follows:
- 5 Year Habitual Traffic Violator: Immediate eligibility for hardship license
- 10 Year Habitual Traffic Offender: Eligibility after 5 years
